The ColorSpray system from RegaLead is the solution for Spectra Arts
RegaLead, the market leader in decorative products for the flat glass industry, has been working with Spectra Arts, the leading supplier of architectural art glass in the Gulf, providing them with the latest solution for the backspraying of glass, ColorSpray. Guy Hubble, Managing Director of RegaLead explains: “Spectra Arts is a longstanding domestic and commercial manufacturer and installer of custom designed stained, etched, carved and mosaic surface decorative glass in Qatar and Kuwait. Backspraying glass is not a new concept to them, as they have been doing it for 3 years using an alternative system, but decided to make the switch to ColorSpray due to the other system’s restrictions on producing colour in-house.
“The ColorSpray solution they have installed from RegaLead is a uniquely formulated paint system that enables production of any RAL, NCS or British standard colour in house from a range of just 19 base colorants, which are added to the high performance clear base material, backed with a ten year guarantee. The use of backsprayed glass is becoming increasingly popular in both commercial and domestic applications as it is an easy to clean, low maintenance surface which improves the light in a space and is extremely hygienic. Due to its high moisture and UV resistance, ColorSpray can also be used externally on things like Spandrel panels and glass balconies.
“One of the first projects to be completed by Spectra Arts was 450m² of spraying for the Aspire Torch Tower Building – the tallest building in Doha and Qatar which was a landmark of the 2006 Asian games. The architect had specified that backlit Islamic script be incorporated into the design and this was achieved by using the ColorSpray system in conjunction with a vinyl resist, leaving certain parts of the glass clear. Spectra Arts and the customer were delighted with the results.
